SHE BATHED THE AROMA OF CHRIST;LESSONS FROM THE LIFE OF QUEEN ESTHER.

Esther kept her eyes on the ground as Mordecai narrated the incident that transpired at the palace. Queen Vashti had dishonored the throne and the king had passed a new edict according to the laws of Medes and Persian, Esther knew the law was not to be joked about.

She had a throbbing tension, her stomach suddenly rumbled and felt tightened like she had eaten something wrong for breakfast.

“The soldiers would soon be here for you”

“Can I not go uncle?”

 She raised her head up.

“Please”

Tears rolled down her chiseled face, she had never been separated from her uncle Mordecai since the death of her parents, the death that rendered the cheerful girl an orphan.

“When you get there just keep your head high and never forget whom you are sold out to, whom we are sold out to” he showed no emotions or rather he wanted to be strong for the both of them.

Mordecai still had words in his mouth when the soldiers charged in and dragged her away, she felt less pained, she did not need to struggle, the lord her God would protect her. she thought.

Her expressions lay bare on her face for Mordecai to see.

A tear dropped from his eyes.

She touched her pearl necklace hanging loosely from her neck, her most valued possession.

“I raised her well” he muttered

She gladdened his heart the moment she met him, seven choice maidens were given to her.

Twelve months was all it took to change the appearance of the maidens brought to the palace, the one who must appear before the king must do so looking like a queen worthy material, they went in and left one after the other.

Then it came Esther’s turn; nice fragrance like the smell of the morning flowers of Chaldeans, they smelled the most as they fall off the branch at the morning dew; she wore the choicest robes, looked as simple yet drop dead gorgeous; she had a face like an angel, chiseled jaws and well carved brows that spoke perfection, her lips were as rounded as the  buds of roses, red was her perfect lip colour, she spelled moderation, the perfect queen material, she took nothing except that which Hegai asked her to.

“May my king live forever” she bowed stealing soft glances at him.

The king remained on his bed with no smiles neither was there any charm left of him.

“Long time ago lived a certain man named Jacob” Esther started; she narrated the love story of Rachael and Jacob.

The king alighted from his bed as she told her story with much focus and love for her two characters; she had the softness and smooth aura of a queen.

King Ahaserus had fallen in love.

“Get me the royal crown immediately, she has found grace and favor in my sight.

“Let the royal banquet for my queen Esther begin”

Mordecai heard the news, he was in attendance, likewise the Jews but no one heard nor suspected that queen Esther was a Jew.

They both longed to greet each other.

Esther missed his fatherly advice.

She never forgot who she was, whose she was and whom she was sold out

Her body belonged to king Ahaserus but her spirit longed for her lord

Esther…I believe may just have been everyone’s model character because of her braveness and courage as events unfolded later. She definitely is one of my women bible crush counting Deborah first.

Like Cinderella.

I don’t even have a fairy godmother or a silver shoe to wear to a banquet. In fact, there is no prince charming who is about to fall in love with me.

When I read how the bible recorded that the king Ahaserus declared that she had found grace and favor in his sight

I sat mouth agape for a while

How did she look like exactly?

I tried to imagine her outfit and makeup or hairstyle

Which celebrity hairstylist made her hair?

Which famous designer sewed her clothes, designed it and styled her, what style was her dress perhaps maxi gown? Or slit to reveal a little skin?

Who was her makeup artist, was he/she famous?

Bloggers must have been dying to write about Queen Esther.

I mean other girls went in before her, she may not have been the prettiest face there or the tallest or even the most soft spoken.

Come on, this was king Ahaserus, the famous handsome and desirable man full of vigour; he sure must have been the ladies man.

I bet a handful of kings all over the country and beyond must have sent their daughters to try and seduce the king; queens around the world must have come with their personal maids and in the company of their own personal stylists. They had attended the best royal schools, learnt and developed fine tuned characters which endeared them to the hearts of calibers of men.

She didn’t have a seductive feature nor tried to get the king to see her nakedness.

How did she do it then?

Each day I wake up, the prayer that trails my lips are that of longings, a deep longing for the lord

I now know what Esther had:

She had the beauty of her lord; soaked herself in God that she charmed people with the glory of God : wore him as fragrance for all to perceive.

It wasn’t about Queen Esther; instead, it was all about the euphoria of his grace.

The aroma of Christ which she had bathed in.

For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.’

2 Corinthians 2:15-17

HOW CAN WE AS WOMEN ON THE FRONTLINE SOAK IN THIS AROMA OF CHRIST

1 WORD

One can only emanate the aroma of Jesus when such a person has spent time with the lord. This reminds me of when the others saw the disciples and they screamed that these ones have been with the lord.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”.

Psalm 119:105

Transformation doesn’t just occur ordinarily. It happens when his word unveils our faces. When we have chosen to lay bare and naked before him in fellowship, withholding nothing and instead choosing to behold that life which is capable of reviving all that is dead

‘But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.’

2 cor 3:18

2 WORSHIP

‘I leave the earth to worship him’

This has got to be my favorite song of the year; it is my longing and my prayer. Worship has a way of ushering us into the realm of the supernatural where we see the very nature of God.

SUPERNATURAL is my reality

When I walk, I walk in the supernatural

When I talk, I talk in the supernatural

Supernatural, it’s who I am.

John described him when he said and I fell flat:

“When I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned, I saw seven golden lamp stands, and among the lamp stands was One like the Son of Man, dressed in a long robe, with a golden sash around His chest. The hair of his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like a blazing fire”

Rev 1:12-14

When I read the revelations, I imagine a different realm, a more serene environment and intense fellowship

“He held in His right hand seven stars, and a sharp double-edged sword came from His mouth. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest. When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like man. But He placed His right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, the Living One. I was dead, and behold; now I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of Death and of Hade”

Rev 1:16-18

Have you ever imagined what heaven would be like? I do imagine it and my imaginations are just a tip of my daily experience in worship of glory of God

In a loud voice they said:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

“ And I heard every creature in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be praise and honorand glory and power forever and ever!” And the four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped”

Rev 5:13

Apostle John really enjoyed a lot during his tour in heaven; I wish I was there with him.

But you know what? I think heaven would be alright as long as you are there

Day after day and night after night they keep on saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty–the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.”

Rev 4:8

Worship is one major way of filling our inner man and oozing out the aroma of Christ for all to perceive and receive transformation. It is God’s way of finding expression through us.

3 PRAYERS

One time when the lord helped my understanding concerning building my prayer altar, he reminded that my life was a temple, an altar of sacrifice.

You remember back in the old testaments when the priests were instructed to clear the fireplace each morning, they remove the ashes and put up fresh woods just to keep the fireplace burning and ready for sacrifice at all times

“Then he must take off his garments, put on other clothes, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a ceremonially clean place. The fire on the altar shall burn, it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add wood fire, arrange the burnt offering on it, and burn the fat portions of the peace offerings on it. The fire must be kept burning on the altar continually; it must not be extinguished”

Lev 6:11-13

This means that each time you enter the altar; you must perceive an aroma, so pleasant and inviting and am sure mouth watering too. If I were to have lived back in the Old Testament, I might as well carry my bags to the altar just to perceive the aroma of the offerings each time LOL.

That aroma, I am sure would instill a sense of worship in the consciousness of all who walked into the sanctuary.

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit”

Jude 1:20

Our lives are like altars, don’t keep it cold because generations and kings shall come to seek your wisdom and when they come; when you meet them, do you have enough wisdom and fire to set them on fire as well? Can men come close to you and perceive the aroma of Christ.

We are saved to save others.

We are called to minister to others and bring them to the unveiling of Christ.

I don’t know about you but I want the testimony of men about me to be:

Oh!  That sister, there is something spectacular about her, a kind of glory I have never seen before emanates from her

While another adds “You mean like the aroma and fragrance of Christ?”

While they both exclaim “oh yes, she has a tang of GOD”

I pray that we as women on the front line shall soak ourselves in God all the years of our single hood as we wait for Mr. charming and even when he comes, we won’t stop till our lives look like that of Christ.
